Minnesota Street Market

There are a lot of thoughts you might have when you step into the Minnesota Street Market in downtown St. Joseph. We’d place a strong bet that one of the first is something like: “Wow… this is one artsy co-op.”

But what you’re really stepping into is a system of support.

Since 2011, the Minnesota Street Market has been quietly—but powerfully—supporting local farmers, food producers, and artists by giving them a direct place to share their work with the community. Every purchase here helps keep small farms viable, encourages sustainable growing practices, and allows makers and artists to earn real income doing what they love. For many producers, this co-op isn’t just a retail space—it’s a lifeline.

Inside the market’s cozy footprint, you’ll find local meat, eggs and dairy, maple syrup, honey and seasonal produce, natural and organic goods as well as the work of 20–25 regional artists and makers. Beautiful locally made ceramics, paintings, jewelry, greeting cards, fabric arts, and even plants

It’s a place where the practical and the playful live side by side—where you can grab ingredients for dinner and stumble upon something handmade that makes you smile (like a wool finger puppet of Einstein).

True to the cooperative model, the Minnesota Street Market is run by and for its members, powered by a small, friendly team—including Pia, Mary, Tracy, Sienna, Megan, Danielle, Alicia, Stacey, and many dedicated volunteers—along with a great management team helping to guide the next chapter. Members receive the best pricing, but non-members are always welcome, and everyone benefits from bulk options (hello, spices) and a space that prioritizes connection over convenience.

The Minnesota Street Market is a reminder of what’s possible when a town shows up for its people—supporting local livelihoods, nurturing creativity, and proving that small-town businesses can make a big impact.

Now is a great time to stop in and check it out, not just for the local food but to shop small for all sorts of unique gifts, not to mention the EXCLUSIVE spot to pick up your JOETOWN merchandise which is the coolest ever!
